zikula/bootstrap-bundle
Bootstrap Bundle for Zikula integrates the Bootstrap front-end framework into your Zikula site, providing the CSS and JavaScript assets, templates, and helpers needed to build responsive, mobile-first themes and modules consistently across your application.
Architecture fit — poor. zikula/bootstrap-bundle is a Zikula bundle, not a Laravel package. Zikula is a Symfony-based CMS; its bundles assume the Zikula core module/theme system, Zikula\Bundle\... namespaces, Zikula's event system, and its templating/asset helpers. There is no Illuminate\Support\ServiceProvider, no facade, no publishable config or views, and no Laravel package discovery. Dropping it into a Laravel application would not wire anything up.
Integration feasibility — effectively nil. Composer install is technically possible but will drag in Zikula core (zikula/core) and Symfony 2/3-era constraints that conflict with any modern Laravel (10/11, PHP 8.2+) or Symfony 6/7 application. Dependency resolution will fail before you reach a code-level evaluation.
Technical risk — high and unfixable upstream.
Key questions for the requester.
Stack fit — none. The package targets Zikula's bundle contract, not Laravel's. There is no integration approach that preserves the package; the only viable path is replacement, using it as a reference for what Bootstrap features to reproduce.
Migration path (if arriving from Zikula).
bootstrap from npm (resources/js/app.js, resources/scss/app.scss), with Laravel's @vite directive replacing Zikula asset helpers.<x-form.input>, <x-navbar>) so Bootstrap markup lives in one place.Compatibility. Assume no: no Laravel auto-discovery, no PHP 8.x support, no compatible Symfony range, no PSR-4 mapping that loads outside Zikula core. Treat it as incompatible until proven otherwise — and proving otherwise costs more than the rewrite.
Sequencing.
composer.json, even temporarily; a transitive Zikula core pin is a future upgrade blocker.Alternative: if the need is purely Bootstrap scaffolding for Laravel, use laravel/ui-style conventions or a maintained admin starter (Filament, Orchid) instead.
Maintenance — you inherit 100% of it. Archived upstream means no releases, no issue triage, no dependency bumps. Every future PHP, Symfony, or Bootstrap security advisory becomes an internal ticket with no upstream fix.
Support — none. Zero stars and zero dependents means no community, no Stack Overflow corpus, no one to escalate to. Internal knowledge will be a single engineer's reading of 2017 code.
Scaling — low concern, low value. The bundle is asset and template glue; it contributes nothing to runtime throughput. Its only scaling-adjacent cost is an outdated asset pipeline without content hashing or modern bundling, which is exactly what Vite solves.
Failure modes.
Ramp-up — near zero transferable value. The only learnable content is Bootstrap 3 theming conventions, which are themselves EOL. Onboarding an engineer onto this would teach them a dead CMS integration pattern rather than anything reusable in our Laravel estate.
Recommendation: reject for adoption. Score 0, zero dependents, archived for roughly eight years, and a framework mismatch with the target stack. The opportunity score of 15.93 reflects a package with no viable path into a Laravel codebase. Close the evaluation, capture the Bootstrap feature inventory as the actual requirement, and deliver it with Vite + npm Bootstrap in a few days.
