How to Pitch It (Stakeholders)

Executive summary: yiisoft/profiler is a small, permissively licensed PHP profiling package for Yii applications. It is not a Laravel-native solution, has limited community traction, and has not seen a release since early 2023. We should not add it to a Laravel core stack by default. Its value is primarily as a low-cost profiling option for Yii services or as a reference for lightweight instrumentation. For Laravel performance visibility, recommend evaluating Laravel-native and production-grade observability tools instead.

Engineering summary: The package provides performance-recording primitives, but adoption carries framework-coupling and maintenance risk. For Laravel teams, the integration cost and long-term ownership burden likely exceed the benefit. Use it only where a Yii component already exists, or borrow its patterns for internal timing. Otherwise, standardize on Laravel Telescope/Debugbar for local diagnostics and Blackfire, OpenTelemetry, or a managed APM for production profiling.
