yahoojapan/config-cache-bundle
A Symfony bundle for Yahoo Japan that caches configuration values, letting you load and reuse config data efficiently without repeated parsing. Useful for projects needing lightweight config caching within a Symfony bundle context.
ConfigCache component for user-defined config files. It does not introduce a new capability — it packages an existing framework primitive. That mostly supports the decision not to build custom config-caching infrastructure: the requirement is already met by framework defaults.ConfigCache/ConfigCacheFactory with mtime-based invalidation covers it; in Laravel, php artisan config:cache and config() cover it. Scope can shrink accordingly.ConfigCache semantics, and container integration don't map. Use Laravel's native config cache instead.config/ tree, and you'd rather read the implementation as a pattern than take a dependency.ConfigCacheFactory directly; the framework has moved on.config:cache, config(), and php artisan config:clear are the supported path. For executives: We evaluated yahoojapan/config-cache-bundle and recommend against adoption. It is a small Symfony-only wrapper around built-in framework caching, last released in 2016, with negligible community adoption and no dependents. It adds supply-chain risk without adding capability. Our recommendation is to use the framework's native configuration caching, which we already run in production.
For engineering: This is a reference pattern, not a dependency. It demonstrates caching user-defined config files with mtime-based invalidation on Symfony's ConfigCache. We should not adopt it — it's unmaintained, Symfony-specific (irrelevant if we're on Laravel), and predates modern framework config-cache ergonomics. If we have the underlying requirement, implement it directly against ConfigCacheFactory (Symfony) or rely on config:cache (Laravel), scoped to roughly a day of work and fully owned by us.
