Easyadmin Plus Bundle Laravel Package

wingu/easyadmin-plus-bundle

EasyAdmin Plus Bundle extends EasyAdmin with extra fields, filters, actions, and UI enhancements for building richer PHP admin panels faster. It offers reusable components and sensible defaults for common backend workflows, reducing boilerplate and keeping configuration simple and maintainable.

Product Decisions This Supports

  • Back-office / internal admin roadmap. If the product roadmap includes internal CRUD admin panels (content moderation, order management, support tooling), this package is a potential accelerator on top of EasyAdmin rather than a from-scratch build. It supports the recurring "build vs. buy" question for admin UI conveniences.
  • Build vs. buy for admin features. A PM can use it as the "buy/borrow" option in a comparison against (a) custom Symfony admin code, (b) stock EasyAdmin, and (c) a commercial admin platform. Its existence and scope help scope how much glue code the team would otherwise own.
  • Framework standardization decision. This is a Symfony bundle, not a Laravel package. Its relevance is a forcing function to confirm the platform choice: if the team ships Laravel, this is out of scope; if Symfony, EasyAdmin is on the table and this is a candidate add-on.
  • Feature feasibility for internal tooling. It can shorten the path to admin-side niceties (extra form/field behavior, admin actions, filters) that would otherwise consume engineering sprints, freeing capacity for customer-facing work.
  • Risk/prioritization input. With zero stars, zero dependents, and no adoption signal, it should not anchor a roadmap commitment. The PM decision it informs is "timeboxed spike vs. do not schedule," not "adopt."
  • Not a decision input for: customer-facing features, security-sensitive admin surfaces, or anything requiring vendor support/SLA.

When to Consider This Package

Consider it when all of the following hold:

  • The product is already on Symfony with EasyAdmin (this is a Symfony bundle; it does not apply to Laravel).
  • You need small, well-bounded admin conveniences that match what the bundle offers, and evaluating it costs less than writing them.
  • The team is comfortable vendoring/forking a low-traffic dependency and pinning versions.
  • The admin surface is internal, non-critical, and losing the package would not block revenue or compliance.
  • A short spike (hours, not sprints) can confirm compatibility with your EasyAdmin major version.

Look elsewhere when:

  • Your stack is Laravel — hard stop; the framework mismatch makes it irrelevant regardless of features.
  • You need maintenance guarantees, security review, or an SLA — near-zero adoption (0 stars, 0 dependents, score 0) means no community safety net.
  • The admin panel is production-critical or externally exposed; unmaintained admin extensions are an attack and reliability surface.
  • Stock EasyAdmin or a few lines of custom code already cover the need — prefer fewer dependencies.
  • You cannot absorb the cost of forking if upstream goes stale.

How to Pitch It (Stakeholders)

For executives: This is a small, low-adoption add-on for Symfony's EasyAdmin admin framework. It is not something to adopt as a strategic dependency. Its only value is as a timeboxed evaluation to see whether a handful of admin conveniences can be borrowed instead of built. Treat it as an accelerator candidate with a fallback, not a platform bet.

For engineering: Confirm stack fit first — it is a Symfony bundle extending EasyAdmin, so it is out of scope for Laravel. Check compatibility against our pinned EasyAdmin version, review the code surface, and assume we may need to vendor or fork. Plan a short spike with an explicit "revert to stock EasyAdmin / custom code" exit criterion.

Recommendation: Greenlight a 1–2 day spike only if we are on Symfony + EasyAdmin and have a concrete admin gap it might close. Otherwise, standardize on stock EasyAdmin or a maintained alternative. Do not add it to a roadmap as a committed dependency given the absence of adoption signals.
