wernerdweight/cs
wernerdweight/cs is a lightweight Composer package for PHP and Laravel projects that provides CS-focused utilities and helpers for consistent code-style workflows. Install via Composer and integrate with minimal configuration.
Architecture fit
wernerdweight/CS is a dev-only Composer package that ships a PHP_CodeSniffer (PHPCS) coding-standard ruleset. It occupies the tooling layer of a Laravel codebase, not the runtime: it should never appear in require, never ship in the production artifact, and must be installed with require --dev so composer install --no-dev in deploy pipelines excludes it.phpcs:ignore vs. php-cs-fixer:disable) and two sources of CI noise. A TPM needs an explicit ruling: adopt this ruleset instead of Pint, or scope it to a subset (e.g. security/complexity sniffs) that Pint does not cover.Integration feasibility
phpcs.xml (or phpcs.xml.dist) referencing the provided standard, add a Composer script ("lint": "phpcs"), and call it from CI. Estimate: half a day for a first working pipeline on an existing repo, one to two hours on a greenfield one.phpcs.xml, the ruleset's contents can change underneath the project on any version bump. This is the single most important feasibility fact: the version pin is the contract.Technical risk
3.0.1...3.0.2 compare link — no description, no changelog entries, no diff summary. SemVer patch position implies bugfix-only and no breaking change, but a ruleset package can break a build without breaking its API: a corrected sniff, a tightened exclusion pattern, or a bumped sniffer dependency can surface new violations across the whole codebase. Treat 3.0.2 as unknown-scope until the commit range is read.Key questions
Stack fit
Migration path
phpcs --report=summary over the codebase to quantify the violation backlog before deciding anything. This number drives the whole rollout plan and is the artifact a TPM should demand.Compatibility
composer.json constraints against the project's PHP matrix and against the PHPCS version already pulled in transitively by other dev tools — a constraint clash here is the most common integration failure and it fails at install time, which is at least loud.Sequencing
3.0.2, not ^3.0) in the initial PR, commit composer.lock, and land the CI job in the same change so the pin and the gate are introduced together.Maintenance

Scaling
phpcs supports parallel execution; large repos should enable it, and should lint changed files on PRs and the full tree only on the main branch or nightly).Failure modes
