Laravel Dadata Laravel Package

teleport-kirov/laravel-dadata

Laravel integration for DaData.ru services, providing convenient access to address suggestions, company and bank lookups, and other Russian reference data through configurable API clients and simple Laravel-friendly methods. Use it to add autocomplete and data validation to forms.

Product Decisions This Supports

  • Russian-market launch feasibility. DaData is the de-facto standard for address, phone, and company (ИНН/КПП/ОГРН) validation in Russia. This package is glue code that lets a Laravel app call it with near-zero integration effort — so it directly unblocks decisions like "do we localize checkout/onboarding for RU/CIS?"
  • Checkout and delivery form UX. Address suggestions + normalization reduce failed deliveries, re-delivery costs, and "wrong address" support tickets. This is a measurable funnel decision: inline validation vs. free-text fields.
  • B2B self-serve onboarding. Auto-filling company name, address, and bank details from an ИНН collapses a multi-field form into one input, which is one of the highest-leverage conversion levers in a B2B signup flow.
  • Counterparty / KYC-lite verification. Confirming that a company exists and that its stated details match the registry before invoicing or payout — a fraud- and compliance-adjacent decision that currently may be manual.
  • Data hygiene in CRM/support. Phone and address normalization at intake improves deduplication, SMS deliverability, and segmentation quality.
  • Build vs. buy (the real decision). The "buy" here is twofold: buy the vendor (DaData subscription) and buy the integration (this package vs. ~200–500 lines of in-house Http:: client code). Given zero stars, zero dependents, and a score of 0, the honest framing is: the vendor decision is the strategic one; the package is a disposable convenience.

When to Consider This Package

Adopt it when:

  • You are building on Laravel and targeting Russia/CIS customers.
  • You already have, or intend to sign, a DaData API contract — this package is worthless without it.
  • Your needs are the common 80%: address suggestions, phone validation, company lookup by ИНН.
  • You want a working integration this sprint and are comfortable owning/forking a thin, low-adoption dependency.

Look elsewhere (or build in-house) when:

  • Any non-Russian market. DaData does not meaningfully help with EU/US addresses; Google Places, Loqate, or Melissa are the relevant evaluations.
  • Dependency governance matters. Zero stars, zero dependents, and an unverified maintenance signal mean this should be treated as an unvetted library. In a regulated or security-reviewed environment, a first-party wrapper around DaData's REST API is the safer call and costs roughly 1–2 engineer-days.
  • You need surface area beyond the wrapper. DaData covers IP geolocation, passport checks, vehicle lookup, and more; a minimal wrapper may not expose what you need, and you'd end up bypassing it anyway.
  • You can't confirm license, Laravel version support, or recent commits. Verify before committing; if unclear, fork or reimplement.
  • You're not prepared to handle failure modes. Address suggestion APIs go down and rate-limit. If the form can't degrade gracefully to free-text entry, don't ship this at all.

If you do adopt: pin the version, vendor/fork the code into your repo, and hide it behind your own AddressResolver / CompanyLookup interface so the vendor and the package are both swappable.

How to Pitch It (Stakeholders)

For executives: "DaData is the standard validation service for the Russian market. Wiring it in is cheap — a small Laravel package, roughly a day or two of engineering — and it removes a class of costly errors: undeliverable addresses, mistyped company details on invoices, invalid phone numbers. The recurring cost is a DaData subscription, and the strategic trade-off is vendor dependence on a single Russian provider. Recommendation: pilot it behind a feature flag on one form, measure error-rate and completion-rate lift, then decide on broader rollout."

For engineering: "It's a thin wrapper over DaData's REST API — quick to integrate, but it's a low-traffic community package with no meaningful adoption signal. Treat it as a starting point, not a dependency: abstract it behind our own interface, pin the version, be ready to fork, keep API keys in the secret manager, cache lookups where the data is stable, and make every call fail-open to free-text so a vendor outage never blocks checkout."

For finance/legal: "New recurring vendor spend (DaData), a data-processing relationship to paper (customer address and company data leave our systems), and a Russian-jurisdiction data-flow question to resolve before launch."
