spomky-labs/oauth2-server-defuse-generator-bundle
A Symfony bundle that integrates Defuse encryption primitives with the OAuth2 Server, providing key generation and cryptographic support for securing OAuth2 tokens and credentials.
random_bytes()/random_int() (PHP 7+) or a maintained library," not "upgrade this bundle."league/oauth2-server; this package offers nothing to a Laravel codebase.Consider only if all of the following are true:
spomky-labs/oauth2-server-bundle.random_bytes().Do not consider it when:
league/oauth2-server, or a managed identity provider (Auth0, Cognito, Keycloak).paragonie/* libraries.Executive summary: A small, unmaintained Symfony 2 integration shim for cryptographic token generation. It is not a product, not Laravel-compatible, and has no adoption. Recommendation: do not adopt; treat it as a legacy artifact.
For engineering: Its only job is to inject a Defuse-backed CSPRNG into the OAuth2 Server Bundle. Modern PHP provides random_bytes() and random_int(); modern OAuth2 stacks (Passport, league/oauth2-server) handle token entropy internally. Adopting it adds an EOL framework dependency and a deprecated crypto library to obtain a guarantee we already get from the language runtime.
For product and leadership: No feature work should be planned around it. If it appears in our dependency tree, schedule removal as routine security hygiene — not as a roadmap item. The adoption cost is real, the risk is nonzero, and the upside is zero.
One-liner if pressed: "It's a 2015-era Symfony 2 adapter for a random-number generator. PHP now ships the same guarantee built in, so there is nothing here to buy or build."
