Integration feasibility is high for teams already using the package’s archive and history flows, provided they can inventory archive paths and define reset policy per entity. The primary technical risk is unintended history loss: archiving now performs a destructive or irreversible history action unless explicitly overridden. This should be treated as a data-retention and auditability risk, not just a package upgrade. Key questions: What exactly does “history reset” do—delete, truncate, soft-delete, or detach? Is it transactional and reversible? Which archive behaviors trigger it, and are bulk/admin/API archive paths covered? Can reset be disabled globally or only per entity? Does resetOnArchive have a stable contract, default return value, and test coverage? Does reset emit events for observability? Are existing archived entities migrated or unaffected?

Integration Approach

The stack fit is straightforward for Laravel/PHP services using entity archive methods and package-managed history. Migration should begin with an inventory of all archivable entities and archive entry points, classifying which should reset history and which must preserve it. Add resetOnArchive overrides for entities that must retain history before relying on the new default. If the method can be safely introduced ahead of the upgrade, do so first; otherwise upgrade in a non-production environment, apply overrides immediately, and validate archive/reset behavior. Compatibility checks should confirm supported Laravel/PHP versions, queue/event interactions, database transaction behavior, and whether custom archive implementations bypass the reset.
