Technical Evaluation

Assessment basis: v0.4.0 release note is limited to one change: dropping PHP 7.3. No new features, API changes, or deprecations are documented. Treat this as a platform-compatibility release.

• Architecture fit: The package remains a Composer-installed Laravel/PHP dependency with no architectural change indicated. It fits modern PHP/Laravel estates but becomes unsuitable for apps still constrained to PHP 7.3.
• Integration feasibility: Low effort for applications already on the new minimum PHP version; Composer will block installation/update on PHP 7.3. Legacy apps must either pin to v0.3.2 or upgrade PHP before adopting v0.4.x.
• Technical risk: Medium for legacy estates because the package upgrade is coupled to a runtime upgrade; low for teams already on modern PHP. Since the package is pre-1.0, minor releases can carry breaking platform-support changes. No API break is documented, but the release note does not prove one is absent.
• Key questions: What is the exact PHP floor for v0.4.0? Which Laravel versions are supported? Are transitive dependencies also moving? Will v0.3.2 continue receiving fixes/security patches? What is the package support policy? Do tests cover the target PHP/Laravel matrix?

Integration Approach

• Stack fit: Suitable for Laravel/PHP applications already on supported PHP versions. Not compatible with environments constrained to PHP 7.3.
• Migration path: Inventory PHP runtime constraints first. If PHP meets the new floor, update via Composer (shimabox/laqu:^0.4) and refresh the lockfile. If still on PHP 7.3, either remain pinned to ^0.3.2 or prioritize the PHP upgrade.
• Compatibility: v0.4.0 is intentionally incompatible with PHP 7.3. Laravel/Lumen versions, CI images, or deployment targets pinned to 7.3 are blocked. Validate against the target Laravel and PHP matrix, not just package installation.
• Sequencing: Confirm the PHP/Laravel support matrix; upgrade PHP/runtime and CI first; then update the package and lockfile; run application/integration tests; deploy in a staged manner; only then remove old-version pins. For legacy apps, sequence PHP upgrade before package upgrade.

Operational Impact
