rgsystemes/olark-bundle
A Laravel bundle for integrating Olark live chat into your PHP application. It provides configuration and view helpers to embed the Olark widget, making it easy to add real-time visitor chat with minimal setup.
rgsystemes/olark-bundle is a thin Symfony bundle that wires the Olark live-chat widget into an application's templates/config. It is an integration shim, not a chat platform — so the real decision it informs is "Olark vs. Intercom/Drift/Zendesk/Crisp" (the vendor), with this bundle covering only the ~1-day glue work of embedding it. Do not let a free bundle tilt a five-figure vendor decision.Consider it only when all of the following hold:
olark-bundle, a Symfony bundle, not a Laravel package — there is no service provider, facade, or config/laravel.php here; Laravel teams would need a hand-rolled Blade partial plus a small config block, which is less work than adapting a Symfony bundle).Look elsewhere when:
For executives: A small open-source Symfony add-on for embedding Olark live chat. The new patch (v2.0.3) is housekeeping — a legal entity name correction and added support for Symfony 5.4. No new features, no breaking changes, no cost implications. It does not change our build-vs-buy position on customer chat: the strategic question is which chat vendor we sign with, and that decision should be made on agent tooling, pricing, and data-protection terms, not on the availability of an integration helper. Note the bundle's last supported framework version (5.4) is now end-of-life, so if we adopt Olark we should expect to write and own a small amount of adapter code rather than depend on this package.
For engineering: Low-risk patch. If already consuming it, bump the constraint, run the suite, and verify the widget still renders in staging — the only functional delta is the Symfony 5.4 compatibility range. If evaluating for a new integration, weigh it against a ~100-line in-repo Twig include plus config; that keeps you on a supported Symfony version, gives you control over consent gating and CSP nonces, and removes a low-activity third-party from your dependency graph. Either way, confirm cookie-consent handling and CSP script-src/connect-src allowances for the Olark domains before rollout, since the bundle alone does not solve those.
