To executives: This is a low-cost maintenance item, not a product bet. The vendor has shipped support for the current Laravel version, which keeps us on a supported, security-patched stack and avoids the cost of us forking or rebuilding the functionality ourselves. It adds no new capability, so it should not displace feature work — the ask is engineering time for an upgrade and regression pass, nothing more.
To engineering: Version 2.2.0 is a compatibility release adding Laravel 11 support. Expect no new API surface, but do not assume a drop-in bump: raise the Composer constraint, add PHP 8.2/8.3 to the CI matrix, and run the full regression suite before merging. Read the full changelog for 2.0 and 2.1 first — we have not reviewed those and cannot yet rule out behavioral changes. If the spike surfaces anything beyond a constraint change, escalate before committing to the upgrade.
Bottom line: Approve a time-boxed technical evaluation. The release clears a known blocker; it does not by itself justify adoption, which still depends on the package's actual fit.
