phillarmonic/staccache-bundle
phillarmonic/staccache-bundle is a PHP caching bundle that helps wire stacked cache layers into your application, with straightforward configuration and service integration for Symfony projects. A lightweight option for organizing cache behavior in existing apps.
Consider it when all of the following hold: (1) it publishes a documented public API and a README that states what problem it solves; (2) it declares supported Laravel/PHP version ranges that match our stack, including our upgrade horizon; (3) the license is compatible with how we distribute and host; (4) there is visible maintenance signal — subsequent releases, issue responsiveness, or a credible commit history; (5) the problem it solves is on our roadmap and a 2–3 day internal implementation is not cheaper and safer.
Look elsewhere when you need it in production this quarter, you require a security disclosure process or a support contract, the capability overlaps with first-party Laravel features or an already-approved dependency, or you cannot establish who maintains it and what happens if they stop.
Executives: "A new Laravel package reached its first stable release. There is no published documentation of what it does yet, so I am not recommending adoption — I am recommending a two-day evaluation and a re-check at the next release. Waiting costs us essentially nothing; adopting an undocumented dependency into our stack costs us a standing maintenance and security liability."
Engineering: "1.0.0 is a tag, not a track record. Keep it out of composer.json for now. One engineer, half a day: read the source, inspect the service provider, config surface, migrations, and test suite, and report back on Laravel/PHP version constraints, transitive dependencies, and whether it duplicates something we already maintain. Bring a recommendation, not a pull request."
Assessment status: provisional. This is the first release and the notes carry no assessable capability detail; re-review on the next release or once documentation lands.
