Filament Copyactions Laravel Package

nhanchaukp/filament-copyactions

Filament Copy Actions is a lightweight Laravel Filament plugin that adds copy-to-clipboard actions to tables and resources. Users can copy cell values, row data, or custom text with one click, speeding up admin workflows and reducing manual copying. Easy to install and configure.

Product Decisions This Supports

  • Admin/back-office roadmap sequencing. The package now ships compatibility with Filament 5.0 in a patch release (v4.0.2), which means the "upgrade our admin panel" workstream is no longer blocked on this dependency. That converts an open roadmap risk into a scheduled task.
  • Build vs buy for admin surfaces. If the surrounding product needs a Filament-based admin, this package removes custom integration work. The decisive question is now "does it cover our entity/permission/audit needs," not "will it keep up with the framework."
  • Upgrade timing (now vs. next cycle). The release is a patch on the existing 4.x line, so the semver signal is "additive compatibility, not a rewrite." That supports folding the Filament 5 upgrade into a minor release rather than carving out a dedicated migration epic — subject to confirming the package actually supports both Filament 4 and 5 simultaneously.
  • Supplier/ecosystem risk tracking. A maintainer who lands ecosystem compatibility within weeks of a Filament major is a positive health signal. Keep this package on the "low-maintenance dependency" list rather than the "watch for abandonment" list.
  • Feature bets that were previously costed as custom work. Any feature idea that presumed a bespoke admin UI build gets re-estimated downward once the upgrade path is confirmed clean.

When to Consider This Package

Consider it when:

  • You are on Laravel and already committed to (or seriously evaluating) Filament for internal tooling or back-office.
  • Your team is planning a Filament 5 upgrade this cycle and you need the dependency graph to stop being the blocker.
  • You want integration glue maintained by someone else rather than owned in-house — the v4.0.2 release is evidence of active upkeep.
  • Your product's admin needs are conventional (CRUD, filters, roles, exports) rather than highly bespoke.

Look elsewhere or hold when:

  • You are still on Filament 3.x and have no near-term upgrade appetite — verify whether this release still supports your pinned Filament version before bumping.
  • The package's 4.x line has undocumented minimum PHP/Laravel/Filament constraints that conflict with your platform versions; a "patch" that adds major-version support can still force transitive upgrades.
  • Your admin surface is a customer-facing product differentiator where a generic panel framework is the wrong tool.
  • Release notes are the only evidence you have. "Support Filament 5.0" does not tell you whether Filament 4 support was retained, whether there is test coverage across both, or whether any APIs you depend on changed. Confirm against the changelog and CI matrix before committing to a date.

How to Pitch It (Stakeholders)

To executives: This is a small maintenance release with outsized scheduling value. Our admin tooling dependency now supports the current major version of Filament, which removes a known blocker from the internal-tools roadmap and lets us fold that upgrade into a routine release instead of a standalone project. No new cost, no new vendor; the practical effect is that a piece of planned work gets smaller and a piece of delivery risk goes away.

To engineering: v4.0.2 adds Filament 5.0 compatibility. Treat it as a compatibility widening rather than a behavioral change, but verify three things before we depend on it: (1) the composer constraint genuinely allows both Filament 4 and 5 so we aren't forced into a lockstep upgrade, (2) CI actually runs against Filament 5, not just against a bumped constraint, and (3) any transitive PHP/Laravel floor changes are compatible with our platform. If those hold, this is a low-risk patch we can take in the next maintenance window.

To design/product partners: No user-visible change expected. The value is internal: it keeps our admin tooling on a supported version, which is what lets us keep shipping back-office features without a migration pause.
