Http Laravel Package

netflex/http

HTTP client for the Netflex platform: a small, Laravel-friendly wrapper around Netflex API endpoints with fluent requests, authentication, and structured responses. Handles the boilerplate of talking to Netflex services so your application code stays clean and readable.

Product Decisions This Supports

  • Build vs. buy on the integration layer. This package is the HTTP component of the Netflex framework, split out as a read-only subtree. The real decision it informs is whether to consume the vendor's integration plumbing or own it — and that question only exists if you are already on the Netflex platform.
  • Platform lock-in sizing. Adopting netflex/http means inheriting Netflex's release cadence, versioning, and internal conventions for every outbound HTTP call in your product. That is a roadmap-level commitment, not a library choice.
  • Dependency and supply-chain review. Zero stars, zero dependents, and a "[READ ONLY] subtree split" description mean no independent community validation, no public issue history, and no third-party security signal. That belongs in any build-vs-buy scorecard that touches this dependency tree.
  • Feature scoping: API client abstraction. If the package provides request/response wrappers, auth handling, or middleware for talking to Netflex services, it reduces the surface area your team has to build for those calls — but only for those calls.
  • Use cases it does not support. General-purpose HTTP work, third-party API integrations outside Netflex, or anything requiring a stable public contract. Those should route to Laravel's Http facade, Guzzle, or Symfony HttpClient.

When to Consider This Package

Adopt it when:

  • You are already a Netflex platform customer building on netflex/framework, and this component is the version the rest of the SDK expects. Compatibility beats independence here.
  • You need the exact HTTP behavior — status handling, error semantics, middleware ordering — that the framework's other components assume.
  • You are auditing or pinning a transitive dependency and need to understand what this shard contributes.

Look elsewhere when:

  • You are not on Netflex. This package has no standalone value; its API surface is shaped entirely by the parent framework.
  • You need a general HTTP client. Use Laravel's built-in Http client or Guzzle directly — both are documented, maintained, and widely deployed.
  • You require community support, published security advisories, or a guaranteed deprecation policy. A 0-star subtree split offers none of these.
  • You are scoping a greenfield product. Prefer direct, first-class dependencies over framework shards that can lag or diverge from the source monorepo.
  • You need release notes and independent semantic versioning. Subtree splits inherit the monorepo's history, not their own.

How to Pitch It (Stakeholders)

To executives: This is not a product we adopt — it is internal plumbing from the Netflex platform, published as a read-only shard. Its entire value is contingent on us already being a Netflex customer. With zero stars and zero dependents, there is no community safety net: our only support path is the vendor relationship. Frame it as a lock-in line item, not a strategic technology bet. The decision it forces is "are we a Netflex shop?" — not "which HTTP library do we use?"

To engineering: Treat it as a version-pinned, read-only component of netflex/framework. Consume it only from inside the Netflex ecosystem, pin the version explicitly, and audit against the source monorepo since subtree splits lag upstream and carry no independent release discipline. For any HTTP work outside Netflex, use Laravel's Http client or Guzzle and keep this off the dependency graph.

To product: One sentence for the roadmap review — "This package is only relevant if Netflex is already our platform; if it isn't, it's noise in the dependency tree and we should not let it in."
