nc/faye-client
A Laravel client for the Faye real-time messaging server, making it easy to publish events and subscribe to channels from PHP applications. Integrates Faye/Bayeux pub-sub into Laravel apps for live updates and notifications.
Consider it only when:
Look elsewhere when:
For executives: This is a narrow legacy connector for Faye, not a strategic real-time platform. It may be cheap to trial if Faye is already in place, but its age and low adoption create maintenance and security risk. Approve only as a tactical compatibility step; otherwise invest in a maintained Laravel-native or managed real-time service with lower total cost of ownership.
For engineering: Treat nc/faye-client as a thin, isolated Faye/Bayeux client. Pin the version, validate PHP compatibility, audit authentication/TLS/proxy behavior, and add integration tests around delivery and failure modes. Because it was last released in 2014 and has negligible adoption, wrap it behind an internal interface and define exit criteria for migration to Laravel Reverb, Pusher, Ably, or another supported platform. For new product work, recommend a maintained real-time stack rather than extending this dependency.
