Product Decisions This Supports
- Feedback triage in-context: Surfaces Volet feedback messages inside the Filament admin panel your team already uses, so PMs and support can read raw user feedback alongside the customer record (plan, tenure, usage) instead of in a separate inbox. That co-location is what turns a message into a prioritization signal rather than an anecdote.
- Roadmap prioritization inputs: Enables weighting requests by account value or segment when feedback is visible next to the customer model — useful for the "who is asking, and how much do they matter" question that generic feedback tools answer poorly.
- Build-vs-buy for feedback tooling: This package represents the glue half of the decision. You've bought (or are considering) Volet for collection; this plugin avoids building a bespoke Filament resource to read that data. It's a cheap way to test whether internal feedback visibility changes team behavior before committing to a heavier platform.
- Closing the loop (partially): If Volet supports statuses, the plugin gives PMs a lightweight place to review and mark feedback — supporting a "read → assess → respond" habit without new tooling.
- Support-to-product signal capture: Lets support staff route interesting feedback to product within the same panel they work in, lowering the activation energy for the handoff.
Scope caveat for PMs: this is a display plugin. It does not provide analytics, sentiment, clustering, NPS trending, or two-way sync to Jira/Linear. Decisions it supports are visibility and triage decisions, not quantified prioritization or automated roadmap sync. Do not pitch it as a feedback-analytics layer.
When to Consider This Package
Consider it when:
- Your stack is Laravel + Filament (v3/v4), and the team already lives in that panel daily.
- You are already using or actively evaluating Volet as the collection layer — the plugin's value is entirely derivative of that choice.
- You are a small team without a dedicated feedback/insights tool or BI layer, where "put it in the admin panel" is a genuinely good-enough answer.
- You want feedback joinable to your own domain models (customers, subscriptions, tenants) — something SaaS feedback tools make awkward.
- You're comfortable pinning a version, reading the source, and treating the plugin as vendored glue you could fork in an afternoon.
Look elsewhere when:
- You are not on Filament. There is no partial value here.
- You need analytics, sentiment analysis, clustering, or NPS trending — use a dedicated platform (Canny, Featurebase, Enterpret, Cycle) or build a warehouse model.
- You need closed-loop workflow: status transitions, owner assignment, roadmap↔Jira/Linear sync, customer notifications. Display-only won't carry that.
- Enterprise procurement constraints apply: SSO, audit logging, data residency, SLAs, and vendor-risk review. A 16-star, single-maintainer plugin with a 2026-06-02 release will not clear a vendor-risk gate — and shouldn't be expected to.
- Feedback volume is high enough to need automated triage (dedupe, routing, tagging). Manual review in a Filament table doesn't scale past the low hundreds.
- You are not on Laravel, or your Filament version is outside the supported range.
How to Pitch It (Stakeholders)
To executives:
We collect user feedback through Volet, but today it lives outside the tool our team uses every day — which means it gets read sporadically and rarely informs the roadmap. This plugin puts that feedback inside our existing admin panel at effectively zero incremental cost: MIT-licensed, no new vendor contract, no new seats, no new system to learn. It's a small, reversible bet on a specific hypothesis — that making feedback visible where the team already works increases how often we act on it. If the hypothesis holds, we get better prioritization without buying an insights platform. If it doesn't, we remove the package. The honest risk: this is a community package with a single maintainer and a small user base, so we treat it as replaceable glue and plan to pin and review it rather than depend on it strategically. It is not a platform commitment.
To engineering:
This is a thin Filament plugin that renders Volet feedback as a panel resource — small install surface, no runtime coupling to our domain logic beyond the admin layer, MIT-licensed so forking is unencumbered. Requested posture: pin the version in composer.json, review the source once before merge (it's small enough to read in a sitting), and confirm compatibility against our exact Filament major. Because it's display-only, blast radius is contained to the admin panel — it cannot affect customer-facing flows. We should treat it as vendored code with an explicit fork path if upstream goes quiet, and add a note in our dependency review so the next maintainer knows why it's there and how to replace it.
