moro/symfony-layout
A small Symfony bundle from moro that provides layout and templating helpers for organizing page structure in Symfony apps. Early-stage and lightly adopted, it fits simple projects needing basic layout support; review the source before using it in production.
Note on inputs: release 1.0.2 was published with no release notes, changelog entry, or diff summary attached. This assessment is therefore a baseline evaluation of the package as a Laravel/PHP dependency, not a delta review. The absence of notes is itself treated as a finding (see Technical risk), and every statement below should be re-validated against the actual composer.json, CHANGELOG.md, and git diff for the 1.0.1 → 1.0.2 range before any commitment.
Architecture fit
extra.laravel.providers, publishable config/views/migrations, optional facade — which means it slots into the framework's boot lifecycle rather than fighting it. This is the lowest-friction integration shape available in the ecosystem and is the primary reason to consider it.register() will degrade every request in the host app, including routes that never use the package.Illuminate\* classes, DB:: facades in domain code, static facades over injected contracts). These are the packages that break on Laravel major upgrades and become a migration tax.Integration feasibility
composer require with auto-discovery; the real effort is configuration surface: publishing config, adding env keys per environment, running migrations, and wiring credentials/secrets into the deployment pipeline.Technical risk
illuminate/* constraints are the most common cause of composer resolution deadlock in large monorepos. Confirm the supported Laravel/PHP matrix explicitly rather than inferring it.Key questions
Stack fit
Migration path
composer.json (not a range), integrate behind a config flag, and keep the previous implementation reachable until parity is proven. Rollback is a composer.lock revert plus a config flag flip — verify both work before rollout.Compatibility
^ range that admits a Laravel major we have not tested should be tightened to ~ or pinned.php artisan config:cache and route:cache — a meaningful fraction of Laravel packages work in dev and break under config caching.Sequencing

Scaling
SerializesModels usage) and retry/backoff defaults; a package that serialises Eloquent models without care produces cascading failures during deploys.Failure modes
| Mode | Impact | Mitigation |
|---|---|---|
| Provider throws at boot | Whole app down, all routes | Verify no I/O in register()/boot(); wrap in try/catch at rollout |
| Silent behaviour change in an undocumented patch | Data correctness, no error surfaced | Pin exact versions; diff every release manually |
| Config cache staleness after deploy | Package reads old config; subtle misbehaviour | Include config:cache in deploy; smoke-test post-deploy |
| Migration lock / ordering conflict | Deploy hangs or partial schema | Run migrations as a discrete, monitored step; test rollback |
| Composer constraint conflict on Laravel upgrade | Blocks host app major upgrade | Isolate constraint early; track upstream Laravel support |
| Queue retry storm from unserialisable payload | Backlog, latency spike | Load-test the queue path; set explicit tries/backoff |
