Product Decisions This Supports

  • Ship an in-app AI assistant without building the plumbing. Conversation compaction, answer learning (assistant + liked-answer), feedback analytics, and action-click analytics are already implemented. The PM decision is scope: buy the assistant loop, spend engineering time on product-specific prompts, data, and UX instead.
  • Latency/performance budgeting for chat. v1.0.15 moves memory, summary, and analytics work off the response path by default (after_response). This directly supports a product decision to commit to a responsiveness target for chat without provisioning queue infrastructure on day one.
  • Infrastructure tiering by customer segment or environment. The new sync / after_response / queue modes let the PM choose per deployment: sync for demos and single-tenant/low-traffic installs, after_response as the sane default, queue for production scale. This supports decisions about hosting tiers, pricing tiers, and whether to require a queue worker in the install guide.
  • Roadmap for an integration/extension surface. New extension events/hooks plus current-page context unlock features the PM can now put on the roadmap: page-aware answers ("what am I looking at?"), third-party integrations, custom post-answer actions, and partner-built extensions — without forking the package.
  • Analytics as a first-class product capability. Offloading analytics writes means PMs can instrument answer quality and click-through without degrading the chat experience, enabling experiments on answer quality and content coverage.
  • Front-end delivery and theming as a scoped decision. Removal of inline CSS/JS Blade views in favor of public assets supports CDN caching and cleaner CSP/security posture, but converts "customize the widget" from a view-override task into a theming/asset task. Budget for that before committing to a heavily branded UI.
  • Breaking-change triage on upgrade. Anyone who published or overrode the removed Blade views, or relied on inline asset injection (strict CSP with nonces), must plan a migration before taking v1.0.15. This is an upgrade-sequencing decision, not a feature decision.

When to Consider This Package

Adopt when:

  • You are on Laravel and want a working assistant/chat surface with feedback capture and analytics in days, not quarters.
  • You want answer-quality improvement loops (liked-answer learning, compaction) without designing a memory system yourself.
  • You can serve public assets normally and are fine with asset-based theming rather than Blade view overrides.
  • For production, you can run queue workers; if not, after_response is a viable interim posture and should be stated explicitly as a known scaling limit.
  • You want an extension surface for future integrations rather than a closed box.

Look elsewhere or defer when:

  • You need deep UI customization via Blade overrides or inline injection (e.g., strict CSP requiring nonce-based inline scripts, or per-tenant asset isolation in a multi-tenant SaaS).
  • You cannot host or CDN-serve public assets, or your deployment forbids publishing assets to public/.
  • You require vendor SLA, enterprise support, or a formal deprecation policy — a 1.0.x package with a breaking asset change in a patch/minor release implies a fast-moving API surface.
  • Your chat volume is low enough that an external API integration is simpler, or your compliance constraints require full in-house data handling for conversation memory.

Signals in this release that raise adoption confidence: full test suite green (37 tests, 352 assertions) and strict Composer validation — reasonable hygiene for a 1.0.x dependency.

How to Pitch It (Stakeholders)

To executives: This package gives us a production-shaped AI assistant — chat, memory, answer-quality feedback, and analytics — as a dependency instead of a build. The latest release makes it faster by default: the expensive work (summarization, learning, analytics) now runs after the response or on a queue rather than blocking the user, so we get a better experience without new infrastructure on day one. We can start on the default mode and switch to queue workers when volume justifies it. Cost is one dependency and a small integration effort, with the main caveat being a breaking change to widget styling that we should account for if we plan custom branding.

To engineering: Upgrade path is straightforward but not free. Default execution mode is now after_response; queue is available for production scale and sync remains for tests/local. The inline CSS/JS Blade views were removed — the widget is now public .css/.js published by model-mind:install — so any published-view overrides or CSP nonce assumptions need rework before upgrading. New extension events/hooks and current-page context give us a supported customization surface, which is preferable to patching internals. Tests and Composer validation pass in this release.

Ask: Approve the upgrade with a small timebox for asset/theming migration and a documented decision on background work mode per environment.
