Laracart is a flexible shopping cart package for Laravel. It offers a clean API for managing cart items, quantities, prices, attributes, conditions, taxes, and coupons, with support for multiple cart instances, making it easy to add ecommerce cart functionality to any Laravel application.

Look elsewhere when:
To executives: Laracart is a small, MIT-licensed building block that removes roughly the “cart” workstream from our e-commerce roadmap. There is no license cost and no vendor lock-in; the code sits inside our own Laravel codebase, so we keep ownership and can exit cheaply if requirements change. It gets us to a testable purchase flow sooner, which is what we need to validate demand before investing in a full commerce platform.
To engineering: It’s a focused, Laravel-native cart abstraction — models, storage, and pricing logic that integrate with our existing Eloquent models, auth, and event system. We keep control of checkout, payments, and catalog. The trade-off is scope: it is a cart, not a commerce platform, so anything beyond standard line-item and pricing behavior is ours to build. Recommendation is to adopt it behind a thin internal interface so we can swap it if scope grows.
