.env keys and bespoke config files..env config.Consider it when all of the following hold:
google/apiclient (or equivalent) for the actual API calls.Look elsewhere when:
laravel/socialite and/or google/apiclient directly. For executives: This is a small, MIT-licensed helper inside the Enso ecosystem that lets us add Google-powered features (sign-in, calendar, drive) without writing custom credential-handling code. Cost is effectively zero and the integration surface is thin, so downside is limited. The trade-off is that it has no external adoption and no formal support, so the honest framing is "low-cost accelerator for an Enso-based product," not "strategic platform bet." Recommend adopting only where we are already standardized on Enso, and budgeting a small amount of engineering ownership for maintenance.
For engineering: Treat it as a convenience layer, not a framework. It standardizes where Google credentials live (Enso settings) and how a configured client is obtained; everything beyond that stays with the underlying Google SDK. Because it is small and unmaintained, plan to pin the version, review the source before adopting, and be prepared to fork. If we are not on Enso, skip it and go direct to google/apiclient + Socialite — the abstraction buys us nothing outside the suite.
