jacopo/authentication-sentry
Laravel authentication integration for Cartalyst Sentry. It provides a Sentry-backed user provider and auth guard so applications can use Sentry users, credentials, and permissions through Laravel’s native authentication system.

Look elsewhere when:
For executives: This is a tactical, legacy-only option—not a strategic bet. It could save weeks by supplying authentication and permissions out of the box, but its near-zero adoption and lack of maintenance make it a dependency risk for anything customer-facing. Recommendation: decline for new products; only reuse where a legacy Sentry-based app already exists and a migration isn't funded.
For engineering: A BSD-licensed fork of Sentry providing users, groups, roles, permissions, and throttling for PHP 5.3+/legacy Laravel. Cheap to integrate if you're already in that ecosystem and can own the code (vendor/pin/patch). It is not appropriate for modern Laravel or PHP 8, and being unmaintained with no dependents means you inherit security and upgrade burden. Default to Breeze/Fortify + spatie/laravel-permission for anything new; treat this as a stopgap with a documented exit plan.
