To executives: This is a low-cost, MIT-licensed shortcut to test ratings without committing a full sprint to custom infrastructure. It reduces time to market for social-proof experiments, and because we will isolate it behind an internal interface, lock-in is low. The trade-off is that it is a small open-source project, so we will budget a small amount of engineering ownership and avoid using it for core trust-and-safety features until hardened.
To engineering: It is an Eloquent-friendly Laravel package that can be integrated behind a RatingService abstraction, with schema and trait usage kept out of controllers and views. We will pin/fork the dependency, add contract and integration tests, and define display rules (minimum counts, weighted averages) in application code—not in the package. Recommend a pilot on a low-risk surface first.
