axiolab/bs-select-bundle
A Symfony bundle that integrates Bootstrap Select into your forms, adding a ready-made form type and Twig rendering for searchable, styled dropdowns with minimal configuration.
ChoiceType to render through the bootstrap-select jQuery plugin. In a Laravel codebase it contributes nothing — the correct PM action is to close the tab and not log it as a candidate. Its only legitimate relevance is inside a Symfony admin/back-office surface.<select> fields with dozens-to-hundreds of options (country lists, tag pickers, category filters). PM-relevant if usability research or support tickets show users hunting through long dropdowns.Only if all of the following hold:
ChoiceType — not Laravel, not API-first.bootstrap-select is jQuery-based and is legacy in a Bootstrap 5 / jQuery-free world.Look elsewhere in nearly every case:
Executive: Not a candidate. It's a small, Symfony-only UI bundle with no adoption, no maintenance signal, and no dependents, solving a cosmetic problem. Adopting it trades supply-chain and framework-upgrade risk for negligible user-facing benefit. Recommendation: do not adopt; if the underlying need is real, it is a half-day of work in our existing front-end layer.
Engineering: Technically it's a thin Symfony form-type override that swaps ChoiceType rendering for the bootstrap-select jQuery plugin. The pattern is reasonable; the package isn't — unmaintained, wedded to jQuery/Bootstrap 3-4, and unverified against current Symfony. If we need searchable or multi-select dropdowns, wire Tom Select or Choices.js into our form layer directly: less total effort than vetting, forking, and carrying this bundle, and it works for both Laravel and Symfony. If we're on Laravel, this doesn't apply at all.
