askerakbar/checkpoint
Checkpoint is a lightweight Laravel package for adding access-control checkpoints to your app. Define reusable checks once, then guard routes, controllers, and actions with simple middleware and Blade directives.
This is an early pre-1.0 package; 0.0.2 is a patch release that fixes the package’s view/translation namespace registration. The practical first step is to install the fixed version and verify the checkpoint view namespace resolves.
composer require askerakbar/checkpoint:0.0.2
composer.json to config/app.php.php artisan vendor:publish --provider="Askerakbar\Checkpoint\CheckpointServiceProvider"
Prefer tagged publishes if the package defines them; otherwise select the provider and choose the config/migration tags interactively.config/checkpoint.php after publishingsrc/CheckpointServiceProvider.php in the package, especially boot() for loadViewsFrom, loadTranslationsFrom, loadMigrationsFrom, and publishesroutes/ and resources/views directoriescheckpoint namespace. If either fails with No hint path defined for [checkpoint], you are still on the broken 0.0.1 provider path or have stale caches.After install or upgrade, clear cached views and config:
php artisan optimize:clear
Treat the package as a bounded context and call its public API from your own controllers, actions, or services rather than reaching into vendor internals.
config/checkpoint.php and keep environment-specific values in .env. Commit the published config, but avoid editing files under vendor/.checkpoint:: view namespace in your app. If you need to customize UI, publish views into resources/views/vendor/checkpoint and override only the files you need. Leave the rest in vendor so patch releases can improve them.lang/vendor/checkpoint only if you are localizing or overriding strings. Reference them as __('checkpoint::...'). Keep the package’s translation namespace registered; do not rename it.RefreshDatabase for any package migrations. Assert that package views render and translation keys resolve in at least one feature test:
$response = $this->get('/checkpoint');
$response->assertOk();
$response->assertSee(__('checkpoint::messages.some_key'));
composer install, migrations, then php artisan optimize:clear. Only run php artisan view:cache after verifying the checkpoint namespace resolves in the target environment.0.0.1 namespace bug. No hint path defined for [checkpoint] means a checkpoint:: view was rendered before the service provider registered the view hint path. Upgrade to 0.0.2. If the error persists, confirm the provider is registered and that loadViewsFrom() is actually reached.php artisan optimize:clear
composer dump-autoload
In production, clear caches as part of the deploy before warming them again.resources/views/vendor/checkpoint does not replace the need for the provider’s loadViewsFrom() call. The namespace must still be registered by the package.lang/vendor/checkpoint exists and the locale is set before the view renders. Missing translation files usually fall back silently; missing namespace registration throws the hint-path error.0.0.2 in composer.json, read each changelog, and smoke-test view rendering and translations after every upgrade.php artisan route:list | grep checkpoint, php artisan view:clear, inspect storage/framework/views, and check php artisan about for provider discovery. If routes are missing, verify the provider’s boot() method is running.1.0.How can I help you explore Laravel packages today?
