Product Decisions This Supports
- White-label / OEM tier feasibility. This package lets a Filament admin panel drop Filament's own branding (name, logo, colors, assets) in favor of ours or a customer's. That directly underwrites decisions like "can we sell a reseller/OEM plan?" or "can client-facing admin portals carry the client's brand?" without a bespoke theming project.
- Build vs. buy for branding plumbing. The alternative is hand-rolling asset/logo/color overrides per panel and maintaining them across Filament upgrades. Adopting a small, single-purpose plugin converts that recurring maintenance into a dependency.
- Multi-tenant / panel-per-tenant architecture. Branding is per panel, so this supports a roadmap where each tenant (or tenant tier) gets its own panel identity — relevant for agencies, white-label SaaS, and partner portals.
- Launch readiness for branded deployments. v1.0.8 fixes a
__PHP_Incomplete_Class failure when unserializing cached branding data (forcing the class to load first). That is a production-stability fix for deployments using config:cache/opcache, queue workers, or cached panel settings — it de-risks the branded configuration path at launch rather than changing scope.
- Not a differentiator on its own. Treat it as enablement for a packaging/pricing decision, not a feature customers will name. Value shows up in deal size (OEM/reseller), not in the changelog.
When to Consider This Package
Consider it when:
- The product runs on Filament and the branding gap is specifically the admin/back-office surface — Filament's name, logo, favicon, colors, and asset URLs.
- You need per-panel branding (multi-tenant, reseller, or separate internal vs. client panels) rather than one global theme.
- You want a fast, low-surface-area win — days, not a sprint — and are comfortable with a small third-party dependency in the admin path.
- You are heading into a branded or reseller launch and need the cached-configuration path to be reliable (v1.0.8 is directly relevant here).
- You can pin the version and fork if needed; the code surface is small enough that exit cost is low.
Look elsewhere when:
- Branding must extend beyond Filament — marketing site, emails, customer-facing app, PDFs, asset/CDN pipeline. This package does not cover that; you need a theming/design-system layer.
- You need deep theme control (custom CSS build, component-level overrides, dark-mode token systems). A custom Filament theme or panel-level configuration is the better fit.
- You have a single panel with trivial branding needs — a few config lines or a custom theme may be cheaper than adding a dependency.
- You require vendor SLA, security review, or long-term support commitments. This is a small, effectively single-maintainer package; plan for pinning and fork readiness, and check the license and issue responsiveness before it lands in a regulated or high-assurance environment.
- The admin panel is not Filament — nothing here applies.
How to Pitch It (Stakeholders)
For executives: This is a small, low-risk dependency that unlocks a branded and reseller-ready admin experience without a dedicated design-engineering effort. It is the cheapest credible path to letting customers and partners see their own brand in the back office — which is usually a packaging and pricing lever, not a feature. The latest release is a stability fix for cached branding configuration, not a scope change: no breaking changes, no migration work, and it removes a class of production failure in cached deployments. Risk is contained: tiny code surface, easy to pin and fork, so we are not locked in.
For engineering: Thin Filament plugin that overrides panel branding (name, logo, favicon, colors, assets), including per-panel configuration. v1.0.8 forces the relevant class to load before cache unserialization, preventing __PHP_Incomplete_Class errors when branding is served from cached configuration — pin to ^1.0.8 if you run config:cache or unserialize cached panel settings. No breaking changes; drop-in upgrade from v1.0.7. Caveats: single-maintainer project, so pin the version, keep the integration behind our own config/theme abstraction so swapping it out is a contained change, and verify behavior under your cache and queue topology before rollout.
Recommendation: Adopt for Filament admin branding where the requirement is panel-level identity; pair it with a proper design-system/theme layer for anything customer-facing. Upgrade to v1.0.8 as part of the standard dependency bump.
