Laravel Twilio integration for sending SMS and making calls via a simple facade or IoC-resolved manager. Supports multiple config connections and sender numbers, plus artisan commands and a publishable config file.
twilio:sms, twilio:call). A PM can greenlight a "first SMS in a sprint" feature—OTP, order updates, appointment reminders, on-call alerting—without a custom integration story.twilio/sdk, Vonage, MessageBird, or a CPaaS aggregator)?" This package is the cheap, low-ceremony starting point if Laravel and Twilio are already the stack.TwilioInterface from the IoC container and ships a facade, engineers can slot it behind a NotificationChannel abstraction. That lets product add SMS/voice to the notification roadmap without rewiring the rest of the app, and swap channels later.Adopt when all of the following hold:

laravel-notification-channels/twilio).For executives (60-second version): We can ship SMS and voice notifications—OTP codes, order alerts, on-call pages—in days rather than weeks by using an open-source (MIT) Laravel adapter for Twilio, a mature and widely used communications vendor. It’s free, small, and proven enough for a first release. The main caveat is that the package hasn’t been updated since mid-2021, so it’s a fast-start tool, not a long-term foundation: we should plan to either maintain our own copy or migrate to Twilio’s official SDK within two quarters. Recommended decision: approve for a pilot scoped to outbound SMS/voice only, with a follow-up review at the next platform dependency audit.
For engineering: This gives you a service provider, facade, IoC binding (twilio / TwilioInterface), a publishable config, and two Artisan commands (twilio:sms, twilio:call) out of the box. It’s a thin wrapper over the Twilio SDK, so you’re not inheriting much magic—or much risk, if you isolate it behind a notification abstraction. Check illuminate/support compatibility with our Laravel version first; if it pins us back, we either fork the package (it’s MIT, ~a few hundred lines of relevant code) or go straight to twilio/sdk. Do not let product code call the facade directly; wrap it in a SmsSender/VoiceCaller interface so the vendor choice stays swappable.
For product/ops: Immediate wins are reliable transactional SMS and voice with a familiar vendor, plus internal Artisan commands for smoke tests and on-call alerts. Track delivery success and cost per message from day one; those metrics will tell us whether Twilio plus this adapter is the right long-term channel or whether we should consolidate onto a broader CPaaS platform.
